2 Terms

2.0.1 Inspection lot

All objects involved with the quantity of product produced under the same manufacturing conditions or completed at the same work conditions and required for inspection in erection works in accordance with the provisions specified in design documents, standards, codes or contract, inspection and test documents.

2.0.2 Item work

A physical work that is an integral part of sectional work.

2.0.3 Sectional work

A physical work that may be constructed in a standalone basis and is an integral part of unit work or sub-unit work.

2.0.4 Main item

Inspection item that is critical to project construction safety and service functions, health and environment in erection works.

2.0.5 General item

Inspection item other than main item in an erection work.

2.0.6 Insulation layer

A structure that is constructed with insulation material and its products and erected over equipment and piping for isolating heat exchange so as to keep stable temperature of fluids in equipment and piping.

2.0.7 Vapor barrier

A structural layer that is provided for avoiding damage to the performance and shape of insulation layer due to water or water vapor in special conditions.

2.0.8 Cladding

A type of metal or non-metal protection jacket that is erected over insulation layer or vapor barrier for protection against external damage.

2.0.9 Support

A type of metal component that is fixed on equipment and piping to withstand the load of insulation layer, vapor barrier or cladding, such as bracket, support ring and support plate.

2.0.10 Fastener

A metal or non-mental component that is used to fix insulation layer, vapor barrier or cladding, such as anchor, bolt, nut, pin, hook nail, rivet, band, strapping, sliding ring and fixed ring.

2.0.11 Expansion and contraction joint

A structural provision that is made in structure design of insulation for avoiding structural cracking and damage from material expansion or contraction due to temperature variations.

2.0.12 Rigid insulation product

A type of insulation product that has a compressibility less than 6% under the pressure of 2×10-3 MPa and remains in its original shape without any bending.

2.0.13 Semi-rigid insulation material

A type of insulation material that has a compressibility within 6% to 30% under the pressure of 2×10-3MPa and can still restore to its original shape when it is bended less than 90°.

2.0.14 Soft insulation material

A type of insulation material that has a compressibility higher than 30% under the pressure of 2×10-3MPa and will not be damaged when it is bended more than 90°.
