1.3　Groundwater Resources

In 2016,the annual quantity of groundwater resources （with a mineralization degree equal to or less than 2 g/L） in China was 885.48 billion m3,9.8% higher than normal,in which plain area had 192.81 billion m3 of groundwater resources,mountainous and hilly area had 725.24 billion m3 of groundwater resources,and the overlap in the quantity of groundwater resources between the two types of areas in that year was 32.57 billion m3.

The total recharge of the plain shallow groundwater in China was 200.88 billion m3.The calculation area of plain shallow groundwater in the Southern Four Regions was 9% of the national total plain area and had 38.50 billion m3 of groundwater recharge.The calculation area of plain shallow groundwater in the Northern Six Regions was 91% of the national total,and had 162.38 billion m3 of groundwater recharge,including 27.06 billion m3 in the Songhua,13.63 billion m3 in the Liaohe,19.56 billion m3 in the Haihe,16.18 billion m3 in the Yellow,33.39 billion m3 in the Huaihe,and 52.56 billion m3 in the Rivers in the Northwest.
