Adding audio to blog posts

WordPress also makes adding audio to your blog posts just as easy as adding video. To demonstrate this, I'm going to create an entirely new post and call it, Risotto Podcast. In it, I'm going to share an episode of a popular cooking-related podcast. I have two ways of doing that:

  • Much like with videos, if I have a direct URL of the audio file, I can copy and paste it straight into the post.
  • If what I have instead is the actual audio file on my desktop, I can upload it using the Audio block of the block-based editor. Here's what that block looks like once added to the post:

All I need to do now is select the audio file from my desktop. Once the upload finishes, WordPress will display a live audio player right there on the canvas:

Apart from uploading your audio files directly, you can also embed them from third-party platforms. WordPress supports embeds from SoundCloud, Spotify, Rdio, and a bunch of other services. Again, to get the full list of supported platforms, feel free to visit https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds.
