Day 1 第一章 雅思口语考试介绍
第一节 考试的三个部分
雅思口语考试的整个过程分为三个部分,即三个阶段。
Part 1:会面问话General Questions (Introduction and Interview)
1.考查内容
在第一部分的会面问话中,考官会通过提问的方式了解考生的一些情况,即考官会针对考生的个人情况提一些基本的问题,目前常见的话题包括姓名、工作、学习、家庭状况、朋友、家乡、气候、交通、住房、饮食、衣着、旅游、习惯及日常生活爱好等。
2.问题数量
在这一部分,一般由考官从上述话题中选择2~4个,问6~9个问题。
3.考试时长
这一部分的考试时长是4~5分钟。每个问题的理想回答时长应该在40~50秒之间。
4.真题示例
在回答Part 1的问题时,考生要注意不要使用简单的“是或不是”来回答考官的提问,要尽可能完整、详细地向考官介绍相关信息,但是不要过于累赘和烦琐,最好把回答控制在3~5句。

Examiner: Good morning, my name is John. Could you tell me your full name please?
Candidate: Li Jiabao.
Examiner: Where are your from?
Candidate: Beijing.
Examiner: Do you like your hometown?
Candidate: Yes. (No.)
在上面的例子中,虽然考生回答了考官的每一个问题,也没有犯任何语法错误,但这种简单的回答会给考官留下什么样的印象呢?他肯定认为考生不善于表达,甚至是不具备用英语进行交流的能力。其实考生只要稍加补充,回答时多说一两句话,考官对他的印象将大为改观。这并不会比用一个词的回答难很多。

Examiner: Good morning, my name is John. Could you tell me your full name please?
Candidate: Sure. My full name is Li Jiabao. Li is my family name. We Chinese peo-ple put it first. Jiabao means the treasure of my family.
Examiner: Where are your from?
Candidate: I'm from Beijing, which is a wonderful place and has a long history and brilliant culture. As the capital city of China, it is the nation's po-litical and economic centre and also a centre for international contacts.
Examiner: Do you like your hometown?
Candidate: Yes. I love my hometown because I am quite familiar with it. Just like an old friend, it has its own downside, but it is part of my life.
这样的回答给考官的感觉就会大不一样,而在语言上并没有什么难度。当然,对这些问题的回答也没有必要长篇大论,尤其不要串到别的话题上去,即考生应把握分寸,紧扣主题。
Part 2:卡片问话Cue Card (Topic Card Description)
1.考查内容
这部分的卡片常涉及人物、物品、地点、建筑、休闲娱乐及其他常见话题。考官首先要求考生抽取写有题目和提示问题的卡片,卡片上的话题会列出几个要点以供考生描述,同时卡片的最后都会有提示,即要求考生就卡片上话题的一个方面进行解释,如解释原因或感受等。
2.问题数量
在这一部分,考生只抽取1个话题卡片,上面有3~4个问题要求考生回答。
3.考试时长
在该阶段,考生抽取卡片后有1分钟的准备时间。准备时,考生可以在草稿纸上做简单的提纲。1分钟后,考官提示时间到,考生开始对所抽取的题目做陈述,时间为2分钟,陈述的过程中考官不会打断考生。
4.真题示例
本阶段主要考查考生就某一既定话题进行陈述的能力。在陈述的过程中,考生需要思路连贯,语言恰当,并灵活地将个人的经历、感想与卡片有机地结合起来进行完整的描述,从而给考官评分提供足够的语言素材。
For example:
Examiner: Ok, I'm going to give you a topic and you can prepare for one minute.
Describe a teacher who taught you when you were a child.
You should say:
who she/he is
what subject she/he taught you
what special experience impressed you
and explain why you like her/him.
Candidate can prepare the cue card for one minute and write down some information on the white paper, which is given by examiner.

If any student is asked“who is his or her idol? ”, I suppose a certain number of students go for their teachers. Talking about all of the teachers who have taught me before, the one who impressed me most was Mary, my swimming coach in my primary school.
It was for the first time that I took a swimming class in a swimming pool. When I put on my swimming suit, one classmate screamed at me suddenly:“Gosh, look,such two ugly scars on Lily's shoulder! ”Then all of my classmates stared at my scars. I was really scared by the way they looked at me. And I was screwed up there and had no idea what I should say. And here came Mary. She said nicely to all the kids:“Guys, these are not two ugly scars; they are the angel's wings, which mean Lily was an angel in the heaven before she came to this world! These are beautiful angel's wings! ”Then, all of my classmates came around and asked:“Lily, can I touch your wings? I am dying to touch angel's wings! ”And some of them even started checking each other to see whether they were lucky enough to be angels before. But the truth was that they were the scars caused by an accident when I was five years old!
It was Mary who saved me. She saved me in such a beautiful way! They seemed to be ugly scars, but they could become so beautiful because of some words my teacher said. And I think this is why I like and respect her so deeply.
Part 3:深入讨论Abstract Questions (Two-Way Discussion)
1.考查内容
该部分由考官根据考生在第二阶段抽取的题目进行提问,并与考生就第二阶段所做的陈述进行深入讨论。这一阶段虽然在形式上与第一阶段相似,但是问题较第一阶段更为抽象。
2.问题数量
在该部分,考官一般会与考生讨论5~9个问题。
3.考试时长
本阶段的考试时长共4~5分钟,每道题的理想回答时长应该在60~90秒之间。
4.真题示例
在该部分的讨论中,由于问题比较抽象,考生的回答不宜过短,因为过短就不能有效地表达自己对问题的看法,就不能真正展开讨论。同时要注意语言的组织要有条有理,精练准确。
For example:
Examiner: What are the differences between a good teacher and a bad one?
Candidate: The first difference should be their attitudes towards students. A good teacher treats students with care and understanding. He helps students to deal with their difficulties in learning. A bad one only lectures poorly and blames students for making mistakes, even mocking them. The second aspect, I guess, might be their feelings about teaching. A good teacher would gain much pleasure in teaching while a bad one always thinks teaching is exhausting and students are unbearable. The last one would definitely be their teaching methodology. A good teacher knows how to inspire students to tap their own potential while a bad one tends to cram students with knowledge.
总的来讲,可以将雅思口语考试的第一阶段归纳为考查日常对话能力(Conversational Skills),第二阶段归纳为考查叙述能力(Story Telling Skills),第三阶段归纳为考查话题讨论能力(Discussion Skills)。通过上面的讲解和例题,广大考生应该对雅思口语考试有一个全面的了解,并且对各个阶段的不同要求有一个整体的把握。
