ABSTRACT

This book is based on the theoretical text of Ecological Socialism， one of the newest schools of contemporary western socialism， and adheres to the guidance of the basic position， views and methods of Scientific Socialism， and studies the theory of Ecological Socialism as a whole.This book reveals its theoretical logic and theoretical essence by studying the theoretical issues of different schools of Ecological Socialism and its relationship with Scientific Socialism.This book systematically studies the social and historical background， ideological origin， the process of emergence and development of Ecological Socialism， and the main theoretical viewpoints of Ecological Marxism， Green Party's Ecological Socialism and Radical Ecological Socialism， and the common theoretical purport and theoretical differences between Ecological Socialism and Scientific Socialism， and the significance， enlightenment and limitation of Ecological Socialism.

The global ecological crisis caused by the development of modern western capitalist industrial civilization， and the rising upsurge of green politics caused by the origin of ecological movement， and the reflection of western left-wing scholars on the malpractice of traditional socialist model are the social and historical background produced by the Ecological Socialism.

From the internal political and theoretical standpoint of Ecological Socialism， it can be roughly divided into three major factions： Ecological Marxism， Green Party's Ecological Socialism and Radical Ecological Socialism.

Ecological Socialism and Scientific Socialism have common theoretical purport.Firstly， both of them insist on critiquing of capitalism.Secondly， both of them uphold the socialist ideal.

There are fundamental theoretical differences between Ecological Socialism and Scientific Socialism.This kind of theoretical divergence mainly manifests in the following four aspects： the guiding ideology is different， the understanding to the basic contradiction of capitalism is different， the cognition to the essential characteristic of socialism is different， and the understanding to the leadership and the main force of the social change is different.

Ecological Socialism not only has important significance and enlightenment， but also has many limitations， so we need to distinguish it with the basic principles and methods of Scientific Socialism.
