Dedication

As John Donne, English poet and clergyman, fittingly stated, “No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent.” We are all interconnected and interdependent. I dedicate this book to all peoples of the world who—with boldness and courage—think for themselves and question their actions … and move humanity toward mutual respect, dignity, and peace. When we leave, we all owe to one another—to humankind—to leave the woodpile higher than when we arrived.

I also dedicate this book to Matt, Katie, and Logan; Jen, Stephanie; Kiara, Talon; Martin, Caroline; Ashley, Kent, and George; Sean, Jesse, and Emily … humanity’s hope. And especially to Barbara.
